Berlin Classics and the International Shostakovich Festival Gohrisch are starting a new cooperation: highlights of the festival are to appear on CD in a series of publications. It starts with a CD with the Staatskapelle Dresden and the conductor Michail Jurowski with recordings from 2010, 2012 and 2013. You can hear the Chamber Symphony op. 110a and the song cycle “From Jewish Folk Poetry” by Dmitri Shostakovich as well as works by Pärt and Weinberg.
"Shostakovich in perfection" was the headline of Spiegel online about Anna Vinnitskaya's new CD, on which she interpreted the two piano concertos by Dmitri Shostakovich. The recording was made immediately after the Shostakovich Festival 2014, when Anna Vinnitskaya, together with the Kremerata Baltica and the wind players of the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, already delighted the audience with these works.
Michail Jurowski, one of the leading Shostakovich interpreters worldwide, is at the center of a famous musical dynasty. In conversations with Michael Ernst, Jurowski, who was born in Moscow in 1945, recalls his early encounters with the greats of Soviet cultural life, everyday life under dictatorship and the new beginning in the West. The suggestion for this book took place at the Shostakovich Festival 2010 - and of course the festival is themazised here in words and pictures.
